Microsoft makes a hostile bid of $44.6 Billion on Yahoo!

Monday, February 4th, 2008 |

The whole internet is buzzing right now over the news of Microsoft’s Hostile bid of $44.6 Billion on Yahoo!

What was known as a once independent strong company is now looking at the appealing possibility of a sell-out to Microsoft. If Yahoo were to be bought out by Microsoft, the stats for it’s traffic is as shown:

Search Engine Traffic:

Google - 69%
Yahoo/Microsoft (Live Search) - 35%
Ask - 4%

In terms of Search Engine traffic Google would still dominate, however in terms of traffic by UVs Yahoo is still ranking first in the internet world according to alexa.

Yahoo or MSN Live Search alone can never beat google in Search, but what would happen if Microsoft combines forces with Yahoo? If they were to release Yahoo Publisher Network to worldwide publishers instead of just US, they would prove to be a serious competitor for Google’s Adsense. If the software monster does take over Yahoo, they might be another start of a monopoly like what they did with PCs.

Do you think Microsoft and Yahoo can beat Google one day?

Internet Disruption in India and the Middle East!

Thursday, January 31st, 2008 |

For those who are wondering why the internet connection has been so slow today, here’s why..

While I was out today for lunch, I caught this news on the big TV saying there has been an Internet Disruption in India and several countries in the Middle East of which some badly affected countries are Egypt and Lebanon.

It seems like an anchoring ship off Egypt’s Alexandria coast somehow damaged Indian undersea internet cables on Wednesday morning. A spokesman from India said the repair would take about 10 days. Currently the ISP providers are looking at rerouting so that users are able to connect at faster speed. So if you happen to have servers based in India or attempting to access Indian sites only to find that it’s so slow, u know why now.

Thank goodness this didn’t affect US, UK. I can’t imagine how bad the economy would go down further with the recent stock market and economy crisis at the US. People brace yourselves! 2008 aren’t gonna be an easy year!

You can find the full story here.

TheNewsRoom pays high CPM to publishers!

Friday, January 18th, 2008 |

As I was browsing through DP forum today. I came across this advertising agency called TheNewsRoom.

What caught my attention was the high CPM that they offer below:

The News Room CPM payout

TheNewsRoom (TNR) is the premiere online news site advertising company and their purpose is to help companies and advertisers publish their news around the globe. TNR uses embed codes to display their ads on publishers websites with ad types ranging from video plays to content-like ads (news) as well as image ads. What is so great about them is their CPM rates are fixed! They will always pay you $4 per 1000 plays of a video feed while most advertising companies pay irregular CPM rates.

The good thing I like about this is also it seems like even if you get 1000 page views from traffic sources that comes from China, they would still pay you $4 cpm for video feeds. In which case they will not devalue your impressions by giving you dirt low earnings for non-converting traffic which almost all other ad companies does.

The other thing to boast about TNR is their video feeds can be set to auto-play as well so you would still be making money even if the visitor does not stay to watch the video feed. Their other forms of advertising seems promising as well such as the Text Story ad, this kind of ad would add as interesting news content to your site and the Image ad would boost colors to your site making it even more attractive. The best part is you can choose the kind of news and content that you want to display on your site which could be lucrative content for your site.

I have just signed up with them and will give an update soon. They have been around for quite a long time now and have paid out to many publishers so we can be assured they are not a scam :)

Google is Evil!

Bill Gates, the software monster!

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008 |

Was just reading some interesting bit of news about how Microsoft is taking on the challenges of IT ahead in this competitive market with Google and Apple being their main competitors. Here is an abstract of an interview with Gates from CNET at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

Are there specific things that need to change about the company’s products or culture?
Gates: Remember, it’s all about software. So why are we talking about those companies? There are very few companies that understand software. The phone is becoming about software, the TV experience is becoming about software. Our bet goes back to the founding of the company–that software is going to be at the center (of things). It really is coming true.

From the standpoint view of Mr. Gates, software seems to be the core platform in which everything else comes from. As I was reading this article I was thinking of how Microsoft advanced so well over all these years. No doubt they are the ones who created Windows OS and dominated the world’s computer platforms and now even going on to mobile sector. However in the recent years we have also seen Big competitors like Apple, Google taking over part of their industry.

Speaking about Google, these past few years they have been buying up lots of sites including youtube for 1.5 billion. Some of the sites they have bought recently includes feedburner, grandcentral dot com. Gates sees Google as an Advertising Company and Apple as a music industry dominance. These past few years indeed Google has been making billions of dollars from their Adsense Advertisements however there is so much more than just advertising.

As we all know the Big G! has got a super strong search engine that dominates the Search Engine World even whom yahoo, msn live and other SEs can never compete against them. Not only that rumors has confirmed that Google has been buying up tons of Optic fiber cables to set up the next generation of telecommunications hub. With their recent acquisition of GrandCentral dot com (an online mobile platform) it is not a matter of whether are they going into the market of telecommunications, the question to ask is when?!

Currently Microsoft has taken the move to once again dominate mobile phones with softwares from Imagine one day Google provides internet broadband services to everyone in the world and cheaper and faster than the local ISPs, what happens when the Big G! decides to not service Microsoft products in their telecommunications network or to show discrimination towards them? It would deem Microsoft products as useless due to incompatibility. Think about that ;)

WidgetBucks sending first payments!

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 |

Awesome! The day has finally arrived! According to Widgetbucks blog they are sending the FIRST October payments 10 days earlier!!

This is an extract from their blog:

WidgetBucks is now distributing October earnings to publishers — nearly 10 days ahead of schedule. The initial wave of PayPal payments was sent yesterday, while the remainder go out over the next couple of days. Checks are being processed and mailed early this week as well, including those sent to international publishers. Given large holiday snail-mail volumes, please allow for additional time for checks to arrive, especially those sent outside the U.S. Note that only those publishers who earned $50USD or more (including the $25 sign-up bonus) during October will receive payments. Considered the fastest growing ad network on the Internet today, WidgetBucks has served three-quarters of a billion ad impressions in just its first two months.

Very exciting! Now that their first wave of payments are out it could lead to a high possibility of them regaining the trust of publishers and webmasters once again. Phew it’s a good thing I continued placing their ads on my proxy sites as it seems to finally pay off for trusting a brand new ad company which was acclaimed by many webmasters as scammers. For those who have yet to sign up, good news is the $25 bonus sign-up is still available! Sign up now and get $25 free here!

For the month of October alone WidgetBucks has made me $220.09 + $7.75 referals which mainly came from my proxies. Stay tuned, I will post my recipient of their payment when it’s sent to my paypal. In time to come I will also share tips on how proxies can make anyone a fortune! Yeahh that’s what we all love about Internet Marketing cos it gives us the opportunity to work less and yet earn big figures ;)

p.s Domain tips will be out shortly.

SiteFever New Contest Is On

sitefever contest

SiteFever had launched a new contest on his blog with the tag prize were a Western Digital’s 1TB external hard drive. The requirement is only to make a post and linking to the contest and tell everyone what you would do with a free 1TB hard drive.

It’ s a good way to boost up your traffic and get attention to many readers. Although it was quite old technique, it’s worth to do. Nobody want to hide their delight to win something big and of course..Free!

So, what if I want to do if I win the prize?

So here SiteFever. I want to put as many MP3, Videos, E-books and also, I want to show off to my pal here. It’s quite rare for someone in my network that have that big 1 Terabyte hard drive. And for sure, it was such a fortunate for me.

But as far as I concern, I will grab that hard drive and use the same technique to boost up my traffic to this blog.I will use the hard disk as a prize for someone that make a good new theme for this blog. And for sure, I will put the link of the winner at the footer and in the post.

If you want to win a prize, just go to sitefever post here.

Another Way To Get Traffic To Your Blog

Sunday, September 16th, 2007 |

John Reese was launched his new traffic exchange program named BlogRush. My first impression was not so hot until I explored the whole BlogRush thingy.

What Is BlogRush?

It is a little widget that you put on your sidebar which displays posts that others have written on their blogs (related to your blog’s content). You display the widget on your site and for each impression the widget loads you get credit to get your posts displayed throughout the network in similar categories.

Also because its javascript you don’t have to worry about reciprical links or even linking to people or nofollow tags.

For more information, you could watch the video here

Here is an example of what the widget look like.

Could It Bring Trafiic

There are no rocket science here. I can’t simply give explanation before I try it myself. The report will be available with 24-48 hours, so I let it for a while and take a look at it. Personally, it look like a pyramid scheme however there’s no money changing hands.

One key to how well this will work will be how relevant they can make links to content. So, why not you try it and tell me what it the difference before and and after you sign up with BlogRush.

Google Delete Their Own Blog

Friday, August 10th, 2007 |

Article from Infoworld reports that Google accidentally mark their own blog as spam and gave it to another user. The incident was caught by Philip Lenssen who saw a strange post with some grammatical spelling mistakes that be obvious. He then contacted Google about that and receive back from the Google team as it says:

Whoops! We accidentally classified ourselves as spam, and our ever-perceptive Blogger settings caught us. The Custom Search Blog has since been restored, and we’re taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen with other Google blogs in the future. Other Blogger users can make sure this doesn’t happen to them by reporting any problems to the Blogger support team via the Blogger Help Center at We can then investigate.

Google now is more flawless about spotting spam and it even cause them to accidentally delete their own blog.Suggesting not to trust 100% on the software and human editing will be more safe and accurate. There are pro and contra with human and machines as machines does not effect by emotion but sometimes software can be wrong.

It will be fine if the Google team try to not delegate so much responsibility to the software and as far as it wil be human review alongside, it can give a different perception and situation.

But,the incident shows that Google now are more and more aware about spam and try to get over it.What are your perception of this incident?

Recommendr-Discover Your Product

Monday, July 9th, 2007 |

What Is It

Recommendr was a people power online shopping recommendation that was founded in 2006 and is located in San Jose, CA. It’s search technology was driven by community.

What was interesting is a bout the idea behind it. Get other people recommend for what you are looking and that’s why it’s could be a big startup for them.

The site could be more valuable and interesting if the founder could make more features for the site. My recommend idea behind it:

1) Make a toolbar to be implement with IE7 and Mozilla Firefox. Save times and people would search product in a sec after they go online.

2) Most people would shop with a price range in mind. Built a price slider could automatically refine their search results by any price range and a lot easier for people to shop.

3) Built a brand search box could me more interesting. It make people easier to narrow their search. I’ve admit that i could search what I want there but typing a long description keyword for searching a product could be eat up some times. Built a color picker it self can help people narrowing their search and it could lead for a good results as the people get what they’re searching for.

My recommendation is I’m hoping that they could make a toolbar with the features that I recommended as it would make them better. Otherwise, it’s still in Beta, so they will many more to come.
